Farewell normal world :)

The time came at last! Too many friends kept saying to us “haven’t you gone yet?” over the past few weeks. Well now, we’ve gone. And, thanks to a very special friend indeed we had the pleasure of more leg room during our flight – thank you Simon.

There are a hundred and one emotions which fly through you when leaving for so long. Excitement, nerves, even fear of the unexpected but ultimately all that is overshadowed by pure adrenaline.

Our lovely parents took us out for lunch at a hotel around the corner and Toby, Gjoril and little Isak came too which was lovely.

So, now the adventure begins, first stop Delhi :)

What a wonderful day! Thank you all for coming to our goodbye party. It was great to see everyone from near and far (NZ, Berlin and Doha) and it looks like we’ll be missing out on several little people growing up so pleaaase make sure any new parents out there keep sending through pictures of first smile, first poo, first winning the school three-legged race – we’ll race you at it again when we’re back and try and keep our winning title.
Congratulations to all those who won medals (and not to those who stole medals, kids – you know who you are!).
And finally, a BIG special thank you to all those who helped with the party preparations – I think we had as much fun putting it together as we did on the day.

Bye Bye Housey

Sniff sniff, you’re all empty. But we know you’re in good hands now, please take care of our new tenants!

There were lots of smiles all round today and there was plenty of excitement, waves and kisses as we moved on to our new in-betweeny home for the next few weeks. Thanks for putting us up Hilary!! (or is that putting up with us? I’m not sure you had a choice?).

Bon Voyage, 3

I’ve just had a fantastic 6 year relationship with a company I’ve loved, put my heart and soul into, my over-time hours, devotion and all sorts. I’ve made some wonderful friendships and been to some amazing places; Stockholm, Mumbai and Milan (oh and Glasgow and Maidenhead too, of course!).

So now it’s time to move on and say Hello Real World. Let’s see what you’re made of, bring it on!!

Bon Voyage, Orange

No more corporate email, no more polite conversation, no more gentle persuasion to get things done! As of today I am officially retired. The inbox is empty, I’ve copied everything I can, had the leaving drinks followed by long Friday lunch with work pals and handed in my mobile phone. My god, I’m actually going to have to pay for phone calls for the first time in 6 years, that’s horrid!

All this menial stuff fades into obscurity at the thought of packing our rucksacks and getting on that plane, bring it on!
